Do you respond to and/or operate at fire scenes? Do you know what to do at the scene of a fire incident? Where to start looking for the cause of the fire? What are the indicators of an accidental fire? How about a fire of incendiary nature? How is evidence from a fire scene recovered? What type of retrieval methods should be used? Do you have an understanding of building types and the inherent construction features associated with these buildings from a firefighting /fire investigative point of view? What kind of people set fires, what are their motives? What is origin and cause? When you complete this course you will know the answers to all of the above questions and more in addition to what procedures should be done in order to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation.

Instructor:   Ira Trow, FDNY Fire Marshal (ret.) is a 23+ year veteran of the FDNY.  He has served as a firefighter in some of New York City’s busiest Engine and Truck companies. Upon promotion to Fire Marshal/Bureau of Fire Investigation, Ira Trow worked in a variety of NYC commands but was later  transferred to the Special Operations Command Fire Scene Unit. He has responded to several thousand fire scenes during his tenure and has been meritoriously cited by the FDNY Board of Merit on 15 separate occasions. At the present time, Ira Trow is conducting fire investigations in the private sector.  Ira Trow is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable Arson investigators in the United States and has arrested numerous arsonists during his career.
