Course Overview: Today’s criminal is highly mobile and every law enforcement officer, regardless of the reason, must condition themselves to conduct a threat assessment on each motor vehicle they stop. This course reviews past training, introduces new approach techniques and fine tunes the skills that officers have acquired over the years, while at the same time works to eliminate those bad habits that are ingrained by doing what seems to be ‘just another car stop’. Who should attend this course: Supervisors, patrol officers,SWAT/ERT members, detectives, correctional officers, Federal, State and municipal law enforcement officers, and military personnel. Course Content:
Instructor: Sgt. Scott Oldham, Bloomington, IN is an eighteen year law enforcement veteran with over thirteen years assigned to his agency’s Special Weapons and Tactics unit where he currently commands the primary entry team. Sgt Oldham has instructed officers from many different law enforcement agencies on a wide variety of operational and tactics based topics. Sgt. Oldham has been involved in, planned and lead numerous tactical operations including resolution of incidents involving barricaded suspects, high risk warrant services and the rescue of persons held hostage. Sgt. Oldham is a published author contributing to such magazines as S.W.A.T., Tactical Response and Law and Order. He currently writes the bi-monthly “The Sergeant” column for Hendon Publications’ Law and Order magazine where he focuses on topics important to first line supervisors. Instructor: Sgt. Mick Williams, Bloomington, IN, is a thirteen year law enforcement veteran where he has been involved in the training and development of special operations units within his agency for several years. He is a certified Indiana Law Enforcement Instructor where he specializes in Physical Tactics, Emergency Vehicle Operations and Firearms, He has developed training programs in defensive tactics, cvivl disturbance tactics, less lethal tactics, firearms, EVO, basic SWAT and other topics. Sgt. Williams is a regular contributor to Law and Order, Tactical Response and SWAT Magazine
