This 3-day class is designed for officers, investigators, criminalists, firearms examiners and attorneys with either some experience in the investigation of shooting incidents or who have completed SRR's Introduction to Shooting Incident Reconstruction course.  A review of the basic techniques that are used in the reconstruction of a shooting incident will be given.  Techniques introduced during lectures are further developed through extensive use of hands-on exercises.  Case studies add additional facets to the lecture topics.  Students are provided with a comprehensive training manual. 

The goal of this course is to present to attendees advanced methods used in the reconstruction of shooting incidents.  This will be accomplished in several ways, each of which will expand the knowledge that was learned in the introduction course.  The course will also provide a familiarization of recently developed equipment used in shooting reconstruction and to provide an advanced level of understanding of the the theory of shooting reconstruction.

This course is highly interactive in which attendees will reach a greater appreciation for the ability to assess any scene in which a shooting was invloved as the course involves many of the following topics and more:

• Angle of Impact Determination
• Documentation of Bullet Holes
• Trajectory Determination using Trajectory Rods - Special Problems
• Determination of Rifling Twist Direction from Ricichet Marks
• Ballistics for Shooting Reconstruction
• Wound Ballistics
• Reconstruction of a Shooting Involving a Ricochet
• Homicides Staged to Look Like Suicides
• Determination of Distance Based on Bullet Deformation
• Accidental Duscharge vs. Unintentional Discharge
• Drop-fire vs. Hang-fire
• Protocol for the Forensic Documentation of Police-Involved Shootings
• Suicide by Cop
• Reconciling Bullet Holes in Clothing with the Autopsy Findings

This course also involves numerous case studies and class exercises simulating scenarios that officers may come across in the field. 

No math beyond high school level is required.
