"Police work is the only profession that gives you the test first, then the lesson". Don't let the name StreetCop 101 fool you. To most people, a 101 course means an introductory course to a particular subject. If anything, let this course introduce you to information, tactics, and insights, only an experienced highly-effective street cop knows. You will learn skills that will make you a better cop, deputy, correctional officer, probation officer or parole officer and may just save your life. DID YOU KNOW? According to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, 154 law enforcement officers were killed in 2004. On average, approximately 14 law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty each month. Every 54 hours somewhere in the United States a law enforcement officers dies. Two police officers are shot every day in the United States. Most officers are killed between 4:01P.M. and Midnight. 25% of officers killed are killed with their own weapon. Most officers are killed within 60 seconds of contact with a suspect and 40% of the time the officer is alone or has no back-up available. More than 189 officers are assaulted every day in the United States and 21,000 injured every year. The FBI reports that annually, 389 officers, on average , are the targets of unprovoked attacks by ambush, resulting in 21 law enforcement deaths.
